day 64 Dubois to base of Togwotee Pass, 23 miles

Did an easy day to recover from the two previous marathons.

Detected some sloppiness in the rear wheel bearings upon arriving at Lava Mt. Campground, and upon dissection discovered that the retaining screw holding the cassette hub had worked loose. Took the opportunity to regrease both front and rear bearings. Carrying the necessary tools all this way definitely paid off, no bike shops for miles around. Glad I spent 2 summers at GUY'S BIKE SHOP IN MADISON. NY (non-paid advertisement) as an apprentice bike mechanic. Thanks Guy- you were a good teacher!

  1. Yes I am reading along and enjoying your tour, thanks for sharing and for helping out at the shop for two summers, glad I helped you too.

Remember don't fall asleep in the boiling river. So many things to see smell and immerse yourselves into. All under your own power, absolutely special.

    "Enjoy the Ride!" Guy
