Ashland, Va
had our first encounter with "trail angels" last night! Sherrill McKay, a high school classmate of Mike's, and her daughter were kind enough to come pick us up at the church we were camping at and treat us to a great dinner! We had a lot of news to catch up on and the evening came to an end way too quickly! Thanks again Sherrill!

Sounds like you guys had a ton of fun!! Be sure to relax tonight! - Mel
ReplyDeleteI bet you'll run into loads of trail angels. Check my email with weather forecasts. Looks like friday has a good chance of rain -- maybe a time for break then? Hope all is well and you're seeing interesting things.
ReplyDeleteA request from the NCPR geek squad. In Blogger, at the bottom of the post editor form, you can give each post a location, such as "Ashland, Va," "Yorktown, VA" etc. Doing that turns your blog's Atom feed into an geofeed that contains a latitude and longitude for each post. I can use that feed to display your posts on a Google map at the NCPR website. I can also give you cut-and-paste code that will let you include a copy of the map in a post on Tandem Tales that will update with your daily progress.
ReplyDeleteIf this is too geeky to bother with, or is completely unintelligible jargon, let me just wish you a great ride and good weather. And thanks for riding in support of public broadcasting.

Hi, I'm excited for you! I guess getting separated is not one of the problems you'll face on this tour :) .
ReplyDeleteThanks for announing your trip on the Adventure Cycling site - I wouldn't have found you otherwise. We're about the same age, and I hope to do a similar trip in the very near future.
Please keep those posts coming! How about a picture of the local food?
Tailwinds,
Roderick.
p.s. My wife and I are supporters of our local NPR station, but not in your honor, just regular.
Checked the weather again. Thursday afternoon has possible thunderstorms with some possibly severe (heavy rain, hail). Check local reports and weather radio if you have it. Friday rain likely.
