day 94, Darrington, WA 54 mi (4180 total)

Dave cooked us a great breakfast of blueberry pancakes. If that wasn't enough, he gave us snacks and fixin's for lunch plus agreed to take all of our camping gear with him in the car. We won't be needing it again- tonight we're in a motel and tomorrow we'll be at Dave and Lynn's in Seattle.

After Dave left, we headed down past Newhalem and stopped at the NPS's North Cascades Visitor's Center, where we checked out the exhibits and had a nice picnic lunch.

14 more miles on rt. 20 and we found the jct of rt. 530, which took us south up along the very cool, green and shady Sauk River valley. We were in Darrington before we knew it, one day's ride from Seattle!

  6. Yeah yeah yeah ... great job. But Mike explain to me how your wife looks 35, your brother looks 45, and you look like you are ready to head for the tandem rocking chair and collect social security. Kids? Farm? Demanding hunting buddies?

  8. Mike and Steph, I am jealous that you got pancakes home made for you. Do I have to ride thousands of miles to get pancakes? Tell Chris to make me some!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you are very proud of yourselves - you deserve all the pancakes and delicious breakfast. Only 5 flat tires. Did I read that right? Did you put the sealant in - what kind of tubes were you using?

  9. What's all the congratulations stuff? It's two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Let's not have any premature champagne and start practicing the "I am going to Disneyland" speech just yet. Put on the game faces, slather up on the sun tan lotion and butt butter, shifter her into high gear, and push her over the goal line and into the Emerald City! Then, I'll send my worthy congratulations ;). Anyway, I got go buy some pancake mix for my lovely wife.
