day 50, Pueblo, CO 54 miles

During the night, a nasty T-storm blew through Ordway, but our trusty tent held up well, considering it was still in the stuff sack in the hotel room. By dawn the skies were clear, and we were on the road with our trusty "steed" by 8:30.

With easy grades and light headwinds, we covered the distance to Pueblo by early afternoon. The welcoming committe of prairie dogs lined the last few miles into town, and the Rockies loomed close enough to make out a few patches of snow.

First stop in Pueblo was the bike shop, where I traded in my shredded gloves for a new pair. Our Burley Duet tandem has been riding great, so there was no need hang around for any service.

  1. Wow...2310 mi. Fun reading your journey. Our friend Keith Smith is doing cross Canada solo. He is doing West - East now in Ont. He is a ski clothing rep who calls- on & skis WFM.
I'll do a couple "Happy Dollars" in your honor this Thurs.

  2. Mike, Steph,

Doing great! Keep it up. We all had a fantastic time in Montana with the rest of the clan. The rangers are now saying that Glacier National Park will be glacier-less in 10 years. It will still beautiful though. We are enjoying the blog. However, haven't seen any reports yet on which of the many barbed wire museums has the best gift shop.
