Today was full of milestones and firsts: our odometer went over 1000 miles, we passed into the central time zone, Mike had two chocolate shakes within one hour (so hot the chocolate milk wasn't potent enough), and we experienced our first flat tire (which Mike was changing in record time until Ralphie spilled all the lug nuts).
The last 5 miles of our day was pure joy, a local cyclist directed us onto a recently completed rail trail/linear park as we approached
the city, taking us off a sunny, hot, busy highway.
Also during dinner at Shoney's, while feasting on the all-you-can-eat Fish buffet, we both tried a few of these mutant looking chicken drumsticks, which were later identified as frog legs (are you proud of us Aunt Jean? -and yes, they did taste like chicken).
Did you detour from the original route? Our map has you more South? Also you have two postings of Day 24 is that correct? - Mel
