Day 22 - Harrodsburg, Ky - 43 miles

our compliments to Lynn our personal weather technician who has succesfully steered us around almost every thunderstorm- dodged 2 more today including the one that blew by to the south around midnight at the campground. Also we have discoved that KY is infected with an invasive, noxious species. it grows to be about 3 ft tall in only 5 years. It's name is Eugene and he's the spitting image of Sid in Toy Story. He even was trying to fly his Buzz Lightyear toy into the pavement at the campground.Although we announced that we were retiring to our tent to "sleep" (well before sundown), Sid managed a couple more laps around our tent in his motorized razor scooter.

  1. You guys are really cooking along & eating some fun food. Getting close to the first 1000 miles... good job. Stay well. We will miss you at the dam duck race Saturday.

  3. Well ... I can't take all the credit for you guys managing to dodge t-storms. You did that yourselves since you're on the ground and can see them coming. I can only tell if there's a good chance for them forming. Keep up the good work. When you camp during thunderstorms, stay away from rivers (which can rise quickly if a thunderstorm stalls) and camp on high ground.

You are meeting all kinds of people on this trip ... hope you write a book!!

  5. Hey Mike and Steph! Keep up the great work!! Getting lots of rain back in central NY, but enough sun in between to keep things growing. We think of you guys often and your trek. Espcially when we see bikers all packed up heading up and down the hills around here.
